We experienced high snows in early season. Our trip started in Tuolumne Meadows. we camped the first night at Upper Cathedral Lake, which was half frozen when we got there. After waking up at 4:30 am to get an early start on the hike up cathedral pass to sunrise peak to watch the sunrise, we were thwarted by the snowpack. Hiking through cathedral pass took about four hours just to get to the top of it from the lake. Needless to say, we missed the sunset. We did, however, see a nice sunset at sunrise lake that night.
